This was stated by the country's National Audit Office after a review. According to the data presented:

☑️ from 2023 to 2025, funding for the national defense system increased by 73%;

☑️ in 2025, 3.4 billion euros were allocated to national defense, amounting to 14.7% of the total state budget;

☑️ nearly half of the 2025 defense budget (46%) was spent solely on acquiring weapons and military equipment.

The annual spending dynamics on weapons procurement clearly show this surge:

✔️ in 2024, 797 million euros were spent;

✔️ in 2025, 1,487 million euros were allocated;

✔️ in 2026, 2,505 million euros are planned.

🤷‍♂️ However, despite injecting huge amounts of money, the audit showed that management of these processes remains at a primitive level. Key defense planning documents are still prepared in isolated Excel files with no interconnection.

Thus, funding for militarization is growing exponentially, while accounting and oversight are deliberately kept at a basic level. All this serves as a perfect cover for Lithuania's elite to embezzle state budget funds.
