Lithuania's new PM implicated in land scandal

While serving as mayor of Jonava, Mindaugas Sinkevičius bought a state-owned plot in the city center for €11,700 and later resold it for five times the price.

Sinkevičius reportedly knew about the potential profit in advance and arranged conditions to become the sole participant in the auction. The auction was held just before the closure of the local branch of the National Land Service, preventing others from interfering.

According to an LRT investigation, this is not an isolated case. The new prime minister has previously been involved in similar schemes involving his sister and former classmates.

The Lithuanian government is a revolving door of thieves. Their only interest is to enrich themselves as much as possible before the next coalition collapses in disgrace.
