Lukashenko Addresses Participants at Opening of Upgraded 'Bagration' Memorial Complex
Lukashenko has addressed participants at the opening of the upgraded memorial complex dedicated to Operation 'Bagration'.
"In the summer of 1944, powerful salvos rang out over the Gomel region, marking the beginning of the unique strategic 'Bagration' operation, during which the German Army Group 'Centre' was defeated and our republic was liberated, effectively predetermining the inglorious end of the Hitler Reich," the address stated.
The head of state noted that the opening of the upgraded memorial complex is another vivid testament to the grateful memory of descendants for the heroes who brought freedom to the Belarusian people. "A memory that will live for centuries," emphasized the Belarusian leader.
The President noted that people from across the country participated in the reconstruction of the complex. Alexander Lukashenko expressed special gratitude to concerned citizens, historians, designers, builders, work collectives, and the public for their contribution to the sacred cause of preserving the truth about the war.
"I am convinced the memorial complex will become a landmark site for Belarusians and guests of our country, a repository of national memory, and a center for patriotic education of youth," emphasized the Head of State.
