Lukashenko: Peace in Ukraine will be achieved next year if not this year
The head of state emphasized that the conflict must end, and both Ukraine and Russia have an interest in this, as the war brings negative consequences for both countries.
"And this peace will happen. If not this year, then next year. I am absolutely convinced," Alexander Lukashenko said.
"Yes, Russia is stronger, more powerful, and it can continue fighting for a long time. But even so, the exhaustion is very strong, the impact on the economy is enormous, and you see this as well. Who finds this pleasant or necessary? Russians understand this, they are ready for peace," the Belarusian leader continued.
"If Ukrainians do not move toward a peaceful settlement this year, it will be even harder for them next year, and later it will become impossible," the President added.
