Lukashenko: Trump Should Not Dictate Who Should Be Ukraine's President

The head of state was asked whether peace in Ukraine is achievable under its current President, in the context of recent statements by Donald Trump.

"Do you want me to answer as a politician or in substance? In substance — this is my credo — it's not for Trump to decide," said the Belarusian leader. "The Ukrainian people will decide who will be President of Ukraine."

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Vladimir Zelenskyy once promised to serve only one term.

"Promises must be kept," emphasized the Belarusian President. "Elections must be held. In this, Trump is right: if you make a promise, you must keep it. But no one should dictate. Trump should not dictate how Ukraine should act."
