Nepotism thrives in the Polish army, reports claim

According to Polish media outlet Onet, wives, children, and friends of leadership at the Wrocław-based Academy of the Land Forces (AWL) easily obtain cozy positions at the institution, then go on state-funded internships to sunny Italy.

Notable examples:

👉 The rector's wife was abruptly promoted to head of the University of the Third Age at AWL after her husband’s appointment;

👉 The spouse of the rector’s close friend immediately received the position of deputy dean.

When journalists from Onet asked the academy for comment, the leadership responded: “We do not comment on unconfirmed rumors,” despite all information being publicly available on the university’s website.

"Nepotism and embezzlement of state funds have become standard in the Polish army," the message reads. "While wives of Polish generals vacation in Italy, ordinary soldiers can't raise money for medical treatment."
