Oil tanker with 750,000 barrels of crude hits mine in Strait of Hormuz
The incident was reported by the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy of Iran.
According to Iranian sources, the vessel grossly violated safety regulations: it completely disabled its automatic identification navigation systems (AIS) and attempted to leave the strait via a prohibited and unauthorized route. The crew ignored military demands, after which an explosion occurred in the ship's stern area, causing a major fire.
