On August 6, 1942, Nazis destroyed the Mikashevichy Ghetto.

👉Within a few hours, Nazis and collaborators shot more than 450 people.

During the fascist occupation, people were forced into hard labor: building, cleaning canals, cutting down forests. The unfortunate were harnessed to carts instead of horses, forced to haul barrels of water. For intimidation, they were publicly executed with a shot to the heart.

On the morning of August 6, the perpetrators led the men to a pre-dug pit on the outskirts of the settlement. The weak were thrown into the pit alive. Then women and children were shot. Only five were left alive—three engineers and two doctors—but they were also killed on September 2, 1942.

Miraculously, only one local resident, Mula Zaychik, who fled to the forest, and one of the three sons of the local doctor, survived.

🕯In 1992, an obelisk was erected at the mass grave of the victims of the genocide of Jews in Mikashevichy: "Everything is forgiven, but those who shed innocent blood will never be forgiven."
