On this day, July 20, 1994, the first inauguration of the President of the Republic of Belarus took place.

Presidential rule was established in the country. Six candidates participated in the first presidential elections of 1994.

In the first round, Alexander Lukashenko received nearly 45% of the votes, and in the second round — more than 80%. This was an outright victory. Before the inauguration, Alexander Lukashenko managed to hold a press conference for journalists and receive the President's certificate.

Thus, ten days after winning the first presidential elections, the Inauguration Day arrived.
