Over 130 genocide sites investigated in Belarus over five years
Military personnel of the 52nd Separate Specialized Search Battalion continue to carry out a state task as part of the investigation by the Prosecutor General of Belarus into a criminal case opened over the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period.
From 2021 to 2025, excavations were conducted at 132 search sites across six regions of the Republic of Belarus, as well as in the cities of Brest, Gomel, Minsk, and Mogilev.
In 2026, excavations at 14 search sites in 12 districts of the country and in Mogilev are planned within the framework of the criminal investigation. Currently, work is underway at a site in Orsha.
During this period, military personnel of the 52nd battalion have recovered the remains of more than 8,000 victims of genocide.
