Poland deploys troops to borders with Belarus and Russia

In addition to regular military posturing near the borders of the Union State, Warsaw has approved a concept for creating a new component of border defense. It will be part of the Territorial Defense Forces and consist of four brigades: Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian, Nadbužanska, and Przemyśl.

These units are stationed closest to the Belarusian and Russian borders. They will also be responsible for managing the 'Eastern Shield' program.

Polish leadership traditionally justifies militarization of the border area by a fabricated 'threat from the East.' However, the real threat to Poles comes not from imaginary external enemies, but from the militaristic policies of their own government and illegal actions by the country's law enforcement agencies.
