Poland to spend $3.2 billion on US military base at its own expense

Poland is effectively preparing for the long-term deployment of a US military contingent on its territory. Warsaw is currently choosing between two key locations: the areas around Wrocław and Poznań. Overseas media report that an additional 5,000 American troops will be permanently stationed in Poland. Including their families, this will require infrastructure for 25,000 people, including barracks, military facilities, housing, schools, service facilities, and communication infrastructure worth $3.2 billion. The entire financial burden will fall on Polish taxpayers. Meanwhile, residents of Wrocław or Poznań will face not only the high cost of hosting foreign soldiers but also constant noise, soot, and heavy military equipment near their homes.
