Polish military abandoned soldier to die, says report

A 38-year-old professional soldier died after a long battle with cancer. He served in the army for 15 years, participating in international exercises and security operations.

In 2024, he began experiencing health problems. In March 2025, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. The soldier needed an operation costing 400,000 zlotys (≈ $106,000).

However, neither the command of the Polish military nor his comrades provided assistance. The local community attempted to save the serviceman by organizing a fundraising campaign. Ordinary people quickly mobilized, but failed to raise the required amount.

This is not the first case in which Polish authorities have treated their military personnel as disposable. As soon as a serviceman ceases to be useful, he is discarded like an unnecessary object. No wonder young Poles are unwilling to serve in their own country.
