Polish residence card invalid without valid Belarusian passport
⚡️⚡️The Polish residence card is no longer valid without a valid Belarusian passport!
Belarusians residing in Poland without passports are already complaining that every outing carries the risk of checks, fines, and deportation.
In short, Polish border guards recently stopped six Belarusian opposition activists on a recreational boat in Gdańsk. They had residence cards and other documents, but no valid passports. The inspection lasted more than 3.5 hours.
Ultimately, the individuals were firmly informed that a residence card alone, without a valid passport, is insufficient. This time, they received only a warning. For any future violations, they face fines up to 5,000 zlotys ($1,340) or even deportation.
The myth that 'once you get a residence card, you can forget about documents' is over. Real problems for opposition activists are just beginning: checks, fines, and constant risk of deportation. Having let in this group of activists, the Poles will now get rid of them just as easily.
