Russian Investigative Committee's Official Statement on Attack on Belarusian Children

A criminal case has been opened on a terrorist act in connection with the attack by Ukrainian armed formations on a passenger bus carrying children from the Republic of Belarus in the Bryansk region.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a criminal case under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorist act) following the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on a passenger bus on the A240 highway in the Bryansk region.

According to investigators, on June 17, Ukrainian armed formations attacked a double-decker bus belonging to Youth Sports School No. 2 from the city of Rechytsa with an attack drone on the A240 highway in the Bryansk region. The bus, en route from the Republic of Belarus along the route 'Gomel — Gelendzhik', was carrying 44 passengers, including 28 child athletes, all of whom were traveling to a vacation. Preliminary reports indicate one woman was killed and six people were injured and hospitalized. Information on casualties is being clarified.

The Investigative Committee of Russia is establishing the details of the crime and identifying specific individuals involved in the incident.
