Scientists Warn of Three Days of Magnetic Storms Starting September 8

The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the RAS reported that two large solar plasma ejections will reach Earth on September 8 and 9. As a result, space weather will be disturbed for at least three days, with prolonged geomagnetic disturbances, including weak to moderate magnetic storms, expected. Instruments should first detect increased solar wind speed on the evening of September 7. Stronger impacts during this period are unlikely, but new solar flares could worsen the forecast.
