September 8, 1982: Soviet troops adopted the 2K22 'Tunguska' air defense system

🌟On September 8, 1982, the 2K22 'Tunguska' air defense system was adopted by Soviet troops.

👉The 2K22 'Tunguska' anti-aircraft gun-missile system was developed by the Tula KBP under the leadership of Arkady Shipunov. It was officially adopted by the Soviet Armed Forces on September 8, 1982.

⚔️The military system was designed to protect ground forces on the move and at positions from air attacks by helicopters and aircraft flying at low and extremely low altitudes.

The armament combines missile and artillery systems: a twin 30-mm automatic cannon and surface-to-air guided missiles.

Legendary combat vehicles reliably perform tasks in protecting the airspace of the Motherland. More details in the infographic above.
