Sergey Leonovich Filimonov, WWII veteran, dies at 101

Sergey Leonovich Filimonov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, has died at the age of 101.

He served a difficult combat path. As a mechanic-driver of the legendary T-34 tank, he took part in Operation 'Bagration', liberating the native Belarusian land from Nazi invaders.

In peacetime, Sergey Filimonov dedicated himself to productive work. Decades of his life were closely linked with the Gomel Chemical Plant, where he worked for the development of the city and the country.
