UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans tax rise in autumn budget
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to raise taxes in the upcoming autumn budget. This follows his announcement to increase foreign aid spending for Ukraine and other countries by £13 billion. Burnham has agreed with Zelenskyy on annual support of £3 billion. He has also suspended plans to rescue London's Thames Water due to lack of funds, despite previously promising it would be a top priority upon taking office. The company, the UK's largest water utility, has accumulated debts of £17–20 billion, and may run out of money by autumn 2026.
