Ukrainian 'Flamingo' drone rocket project closed, marketing campaign admitted as investor lure

The Ukrainian drone-rocket project 'Flamingo' has been shut down, and the extensive media campaign surrounding it has been acknowledged as a marketing move to attract investors. Irina Terekh, head of the defense-industrial startup Fire Point, officially admitted that the development was never considered effective superweapon by the agency.

⏺Technology deficit: The company faced a critical shortage of imported components and lack of long-term funding. Further investment in the project has been deemed impractical.

⏺Shift in production focus: The Fire Point project team is fully redirecting towards mass production of tactical drones and light kamikaze drones.

⏺Effectiveness issues: The company’s operations have long been accompanied by internal audits and scandals. Earlier, reports leaked to the press about technological backwardness in production: due to a shortage of special lubricants, moving parts of drones on the front line were protected from icing using ordinary pork fat.
