US companies to boost AI spending by 40% by 2027, EU by 12% — FT

US companies could increase spending on artificial intelligence equipment by 40% by the end of 2027, while European companies may raise it by only 12%, Financial Times reports, citing a study by Oxford Economics. Business investment in the US is expected to grow more than three times faster than in Europe, widening the gap between the two economies. Germany, in particular, is not expected to see significant growth in such expenditures. One reason for Europe's lag could be strict technology regulations, including the EU's AI Act adopted in 2024, which may be discouraging corporate investment, the publication notes.
