US Military to Conduct Exercises in Poland Using Stratospheric Microballoons

At the end of July and the beginning of August, the U.S. Army's Multi-Domain Operations Command in Europe (MDC-E) will conduct exercises in Poland using stratospheric microballoons.

Stratospheric microballoons are compact platforms that ascend to altitudes of 18–30 km. They are used for military purposes such as reconnaissance, surveillance, and communication support.

The Polish Armed Forces have already warned citizens that it is strictly prohibited to touch or photograph any fallen balloon debris, under threat of criminal liability.

Notably, Poland has not disclosed the exact locations or flight schedules of the operations. However, the purpose of these exercises is clear.

And here the classic double standard applies: if the Union State had even hinted at conducting similar covert reconnaissance near NATO's borders, Western propaganda would already be screaming about 'provocation' and 'preparation for war'.
