US Navy considers frigate designs from Japan, South Korea, and Turkey

The US Navy is evaluating frigate designs developed in Japan, South Korea, and Turkey as part of efforts to accelerate fleet expansion and reduce costs. The potential candidates include the Mogami-class (Japan), Chungnam-class (South Korea), and Istanbul-class (Turkey). Under a possible 'Finnish model,' the first one or two vessels could be built abroad, with subsequent production transferred to US shipyards.
