Warsaw freezes major military aid package to Kyiv over Lviv council's UPA resolution
Warsaw has frozen a major military aid package to Kyiv following the Lviv regional council's decision to declare 2027 the year of the UPA, Shukhevych, and Olzhych. The controversial vote took place just before Poland was set to dispatch military shipments, triggering a serious diplomatic scandal. "Due to their irresponsible actions, the delivery of this aid package has now been suspended. We are actively working through closed channels to resolve this problem created out of nothing," a Polish official said. After Warsaw's emergency intervention, Ukrainian authorities backtracked: the controversial resolution quickly disappeared from the council's website, and Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Kyiv to cancel the decision. The Polish side stated it believes in its partners' assurances, but military deliveries remain on hold for now.
