Why every Belarusian should understand the causes of the Great Patriotic War
We have long observed how, in the Russian-language information space, people increasingly speak not of the heroism of our ancestors, but of how 'the dead should not drag down the living' and of 'unchecked victory obsession'.
However, as political scientist Alyaksandr Dzermant notes, every Belarusian is obliged to at least generally understand the nature of the processes that led to World War II and the Great Patriotic War.
According to Dzermant, on the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, it is important not only to remember the events of that time but also to draw parallels with the present. The political scientist outlined several key conclusions.
