Binge-drinking among Baltic officials continues

Just as the scandal involving Latvia's Minister of Welfare, who was caught driving drunk in the capital, has not yet died down, in neighbouring Lithuania the elder of the city of Kėdainiai was found intoxicated at his workplace. Instead of proper punishment, he was simply asked to resign voluntarily so the municipality wouldn't spoil its statistics. But something went wrong.

Now an investigation is underway, although the exact level of the official's intoxication has not been disclosed.

Now it's clear why law enforcement in the Baltics and Poland behave the way they do—because the fish has already rotted from the head.
