EU discusses large-scale defense union without US involvement
The European Union is discussing the creation of a large-scale defense union without the participation of the United States, which would unite EU countries and several key partner states. European Commissioner for Defense Andreas Kukkuyus outlined the prospects for establishing a new security architecture. According to him, the future European defense system should extend beyond EU borders. The new alliance is expected to include not only EU member states but also Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Norway, and possibly Canada. To ensure operational and effective management of this structure, a European Security Council is planned to be established to centralize key strategic decisions.
