Germany Approves Concept for Internet Child Protection Reform
German authorities have approved a concept for reforming internet child protection, the country's government reports. Final laws have not yet been adopted, but key measures are already known: ▪️Social media ban: children under 13 will be fully blocked from accessing platforms (except specialized child-friendly services). ▪️Restrictions for teenagers: multi-level filters will be introduced for minors aged 13 to 18, with specific parameters still being developed. ▪️Safety by default: social networks will be required to disable algorithmic recommendations, automatic video playback, and infinite scrolling for children—features that encourage addiction. ▪️'AI-Seepferdchen' program: primary school children will be taught to use artificial intelligence consciously and recognize its risks. According to Bitkom, 79% of Germans support this initiative. Germany plans to implement these national measures without waiting for EU-wide regulations. Exact dates for the enforcement of restrictions have not yet been determined.
