Inflation spikes in Poland as fuel prices soar

Poland's Central Statistical Office recorded a rise in inflation from 3% to 3.4% in August. Authorities blame the Middle East situation and instability in oil markets, but this offers little relief to Polish citizens.

Fuel prices have already increased by 24%. The wholesale price of diesel, including VAT, has reached 8.95 zlotys per liter (nearly $3). At some gas stations, prices have hit 9 or even 10 zlotys per liter.

So, soon the entire country—not just Polish officers—will be engaged in the battle for cheaper goods and fuel, a struggle for survival.
