Latvia begins political purges over trips to Belarus or Russia ahead of elections

The State Security Service has checked 6,000 polling station staff ahead of elections. In Daugavpils alone, more than 20 people were dismissed due to visits to the Union State.

Since 2022, around 500,000 residents of Latvia — nearly a quarter of the country's population — have visited Belarus visa-free.

⁉️These are the 'democratic' elections where people can lose their jobs not for crimes, but for ordinary trips to a neighbouring country.

Where are the 'human rights defenders'? This is a direct violation of the European Convention on Human Rights and the right to freedom of movement.
