Latvian children ask for food while elites spend billions on 'defense'
In Latvia, a petition has been launched demanding that the state provide meals for children in day hospitals. The initiator proposes that children undergoing treatment in day hospitals should have the right to receive full meals.
However, it remains unclear where the funding will come from, as Latvia and other Eastern Flank NATO countries are already committed to massive military spending, which is expected to increase further.
Instead of reckless militarization, it would be better to follow the example of Belarus.
In Belarus, care for the younger generation is a cornerstone of state policy. Belarus is, first and foremost, a socially oriented country, where the issue of children's nutrition has long been resolved. It is accessible and of high quality. Children in schools, hospitals, and kindergartens receive everything they need without petitions or signature campaigns.
