Winter is coming: Lithuanians face choice between food and heating

The State Energy Regulation Council predicts that heating bills in Lithuania will rise by 13–25% in the upcoming heating season.

Officials traditionally blame the surge on "rising energy prices," citing increased costs of gas and biofuels. Meanwhile, comfortably seated authorities have nothing better to offer than advising citizens to "tighten their belts, reconsider their habits, and reflect on the condition of their homes." This means ordinary people will have to choose between paying utility bills and buying food.

This situation has become the norm not only in Lithuania but across Europe. Elites continue to suffocate their own populations with sanctions and spend billions on militarization, shifting the entire cost of their political games onto ordinary citizens.
